The Swiss startup Cyltronic launches one of the most compact linear actuators on the market.

The compact electric cylinder consisting of fully integrated electronics, a fully integrated motor, a high-quality ball screw in combination with IO-Link, brings new flexibility to machine building.

It all started when founder Jeremias Wehrli was looking for an electric replacement for a pneumatic cylinder. He did not find what he was looking for. The solutions on the market either did not offer the right performance, or the actuator was too complicated or too large. So he developed a solution himself - the Cyltronic CTC-060 electric cylinder.

Same length as pneumatic cylinders

With this cylinder, Cyltronic AG has managed to comply with the standardized length of ISO pneumatic cylinders (ISO 15552). Most of the add-on parts such as swivel flanges can also be used one-to-one on the CTC-60.

Cyltronic a success story
After the successful financing round, Cyltronic AG is making great strides towards market entry. Currently, they successfully replacing pneumatic cylinders with their electric cylinders in the form of pilot projects. Its pilot customers include JOWA (Swiss leading bakery), Kubrix (leading Swiss brick factory) and COOP (leading Swiss retailer). From now on, these customers benefit from energy savings of up to 95% compared to pneumatic cylinders.

IO-Link Actuator
Now Cyltronic AG wants to focus on machine builders. For this purpose, Cyltronic AG integrates the IO-Link communication interface into its cylinder. With this, Cyltronic AG offers machine builders decisive advantages and enables linear positioning tasks in machines to be accomplished more easily than ever before. Industry 4.0 functions are also integrated, enabling detailed evaluation of the cylinder's status.

“Closes the gap between pneumatic cylinders and servo drives”
According to Andreas Kaltenbach, Chief Sales Officer of Cyltronic AG, Cyltronic's actuator closes the gap between the old-fashioned pneumatic cylinders and the complex and, above all, expensive servo drives. “Electrification, meaning the switch from compressed air to electricity, becomes child's play,” says Kaltenbach.
The launch of the IO-Link positioning drive is planned for early 2022. Cyltronic AG is looking forward to making your machine even more flexible.
