STIHL Kettenwerk pneumatic cylinder replacement with Cyltronic CTC electric cylinder

At the STIHL Kettenwerk plant in Wil, three compressed air actuators were successfully replaced by Cyltronic electric actuators.

The STIHL chain plant in Wil primarily produces chainsaw chains for the global market. The highly productive and automated systems are powered by countless compressed air actuators, making compressed air one of the main sources of energy in production.

Today, automation suppliers provide many arguments as to why compressed air is still justified and cannot be replaced. Experience has been gained with this project, which shows that it is also possible without it.

It could a Energy savings of 98%, 89% and 82% can be achieved compared to pneumatic cylinders.
